Look Inside

Eight at a Time

Andrew Dittmer and Tanya Larina

Eight at a Time deals with the big issue of child slavery in a way that small people can understand.

This story follows two young octopuses, Jack and Ruby, who are deceived by a cruel crab and forced to make bricks - eight at a time. The middle half of this book may be intense for sensitive young children, while for a time the situation seems hopeless, but (spoiler alert) help comes along! Eight at a Time shows that we can make a difference to those in slavery, even if we are small. The book also contains hidden message for children to discover.

The book points to the work of International Justice Mission, Destiny Rescue and A21 — with a page for adults outlining their activities on the final page.
